Poppy gets the read off the first bush and lands the full combo: stun into the wall, free autos while I can’t move. Against most level 1 lanes that’s the trade, full stop. It isn’t here, because the minions are already chipping her down and the moment the stun breaks I answer with an auto of my own before doing anything else. Q goes toward the wave next, not toward her — not poke, just insurance that the backstab can’t miss no matter how she reacts. She can’t out-position a guaranteed crit from behind, and stacked on top of the auto it brings the trade back to even before I walk out behind my own minions. She spent a full stun and a wall combo to break even with a champion whose whole kit is running away. That’s not a scoreboard loss for her, but it’s the more expensive one: a partial engage doesn’t work on Shaco, so from here she either commits to landing every piece of the combo clean or she stops trying to poke at all.
