In this loop

  1. 0:01Yi spots the read and jumps in, closing the gap before there's any distance to work with
  2. 0:02Q fires into the pixel bush on reflex, sight breaking on entry
  3. 0:03Instead of immediately continuing out the far side, a deliberate half-beat pause holds position, denying Yi the read he needs to commit to an exit
  4. 0:04A Jack In The Box drops on the way out, insurance in case Yi guesses the right side anyway
  5. 0:05The gap opens clean, box left behind in the river, no auto or dash left to answer with

The box wasn't the escape plan. It was the backup for the guess he had to make anyway.

This isn’t a lane matchup so much as a two-second read against Yi’s jump. There’s no time to out-position him before the gap closes, so the answer is what happens in the second right after: Q into the pixel bush is the reflex, but firing out the other side immediately would hand Yi the same read he’d get from watching the animation. The pause is the actual play, holding just long enough in the bush that Yi has to commit to a guess about which exit gets taken, without anything onscreen confirming it either way. A box drops on the way out regardless, not because the pause was expected to fail, but because a wrong guess from Yi still needed an answer. It didn’t come to that. Yi picks a side, the gap opens clean, and the box is left behind in the river as the only thing marking where the read almost mattered.
