J4 paid two summoners for a kill that walked away.
Level 2 and J4 already has the read: flag lands on Varus, Q dashes through it for the knockup, ignite ticking before the stun even breaks. Q’s on cooldown from the opening trade, so there’s no escape banked, the box goes down instead, dropped right into the fight to eat an auto and hold J4’s attention half a second longer than Varus can afford to give him. That’s the whole save: not a kill, just enough drag to let Varus reach the tree line alive. The turn happens later in the same sequence, off camera here: Varus comes back and closes out a clean kill on Miss Fortune, so the all-in that should have been a bot lane kill for J4 ends as one for us instead. I still die to J4 in the trade that follows, but Varus doesn’t, and neither does the read that got him there. This is the shape most Shaco lane matchups take early: W is the one cooldown already up at level 2, and thrown defensively into someone else’s all-in, it’s worth more than the same box saved for a combo of my own.
