A leash still has to reach you. A stun already has.

The reads

The stun is the part that actually locks Q out, not the hook itself. The instant Thresh’s chain connects and the snare applies, there’s no jumping away from it, same as any other hard CC. But the chain traveling, and the drag that follows once that initial stun window runs out, isn’t the same lock: Q still fires. That gap is the whole play here, dropped right in the middle of a hook that should have ended clean, and it’s the reason distance from a wall matters before any of this happens. More room to Q into means more room between where Thresh committed his dash and where the target of the leash actually ends up, and he’s already thrown the cooldown by the time that gap shows up. He reads the hook as a kill. It turns into a repositioning, then a kill going the other way.
